BURIAL

The Vikings did not normally just bury people. If they were buried they would be buried with food, armor, swords, axes, gold and treasures. All things you need in the afterlife. If you were rich, important or someone of a high status then they would be put on a ship with their belongings, weapons, treasure and other items of importance, aswell as your slave/servant or wife. The ship would then be pushed out into the water and then archers with flaming arrows would light the ship on fire.

Viking graves that were in the ground would be surrounded by a circle of stones.
