LEIF ERIKSON

Leif Erikson was a Viking explorer and the son of Erik the Red. Leif was the founder of the first European settlement. This was on what s called Greenland.

Leif Erikson was the first European to set foot in North America. Though many believe that Christopher Columbus was the first to discover North America, Leif actually discovered it almost 5 centuries earlier. When he got there he discovered many grapes. This led to him naming the land 'Vinland' meaning 'Wineland'.
