Sailors
Vikings were good sailors because they lived in a bad terrain with mountains everywhere so they had be good sailors to get places and to trade. They also were surrounded by sea.

Types of Ships
​
Warships/Longships. These ships were 30m long, narrow and had 20 oars a side. There was also a sail they could hoist up for open sea sailing.
Freight Carrying Merchant Ships. There are two types of these merchant ships; heavy and light. The heavy was for travelling long distances over ocean and the light for small trips.
Small Boats. These boats were designed for everyday tasks such as fishing, transporting people and local goods and for leisure.
